1. Introduction
Harford Attachments Ltd is committed to conducting business ethically and with integrity. We have a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour, and child labour in any part of our business or supply chain.
This statement is made pursuant to Section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps we have taken to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place in our business or supply chains.
2. About our business
Harford Attachments Ltd is a UK-based manufacturer of excavator quick hitches, buckets, and related attachments. We have been operating for over 30 years from our manufacturing facility in Norwich, Norfolk.
Our products are designed and manufactured in the United Kingdom. We supply customers across the UK, Europe, and internationally through our US operation based in Clearwater, Florida.
Our workforce is based primarily in Norwich, and we employ skilled fabricators, engineers, and office staff directly. We do not use agency labour for core manufacturing operations.
3. Our supply chain
As a manufacturer of steel fabricated products, our primary supply chain includes:
- -Steel and raw material suppliers, predominantly UK and European based
- -Hydraulic component suppliers for our Uni-Lok hydraulic quick hitch range
- -Machining and surface treatment subcontractors, primarily UK-based
- -Packaging and logistics providers
The majority of our supply chain is UK-based, which reduces but does not eliminate the risk of modern slavery. We recognise that vigilance is required at every level of the supply chain.
4. Policies and procedures
We have the following policies and procedures in place to mitigate the risk of modern slavery:
- RecruitmentAll employees are recruited directly and have documented right-to-work checks. We do not use recruitment agencies that cannot demonstrate ethical practices.
- Supplier assessmentWe assess new suppliers for modern slavery risk as part of our onboarding process and expect all suppliers to comply with applicable labour laws.
- Employee welfareAll employees are paid at or above the National Living Wage, work reasonable hours, and have access to a safe working environment.
5. Risk assessment
We consider the risk of modern slavery in our direct operations to be low because:
- -We manufacture in the UK with a directly employed, skilled workforce
- -Our workforce is small enough that management has direct visibility of working conditions
- -We do not operate in high-risk geographies for our core operations
We acknowledge that supply chain risks exist, particularly where raw materials originate from outside the UK. We continue to work with our suppliers to improve transparency and traceability.
6. Due diligence
Our due diligence activities include:
- -Requiring key suppliers to confirm compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015
- -Reviewing supplier practices during regular business interactions and site visits
- -Maintaining awareness of modern slavery indicators among management
- -Reserving the right to terminate supplier relationships where concerns about labour practices cannot be satisfactorily resolved
7. Reporting concerns
We encourage anyone — employees, suppliers, customers, or members of the public — to report any concerns or suspicions of modern slavery related to our business or supply chain.
